Registry Contact Directory Available December 1
Announcing the Opening of a New National Finding Aid for Writers
November 7, 1996 - On December 1, 1996, a valuable new source of
information on authors and journalists will become available. The Authors
Registry Contact Directory, containing information on over 20,000 writers,
will be searchable by telephone and e-mail inquiries. In its initial phase,
this service will provide contact information at no charge to inquirers for
low-volume inquiries.
The Contact Directory is a compilation of information on Registry members,
including each author's chosen method of contact for rights and permissions
inquiries. The Registry's membership is comprised of the members of over 30
national writers' organizations, the clients of over 100 literary agencies,
and many unaffiliated writers who have joined individually.
Inquiries to the Contact Directory can be made by telephoning
the Registry at (212) 563-6920, or emailing
staff@authorsregistry.org.
The Registry will respond, by telephone or email, within 24 hours.
The Registry's Directory service will be expanded in the near future,
offering a full finding service at a low search fee. If the author you
seek isn't in the Registry's database, a wide variety of other sources
will be searched. In a later phase, a full rights and permissions service
will be offered, in which the Registry will be able to deliver licensing
for use of author-controlled copyright materials.
