PEN American Center Joins the Registry
May 3, 1996 - PEN American Center is the latest writers' organization to
sign on to the Authors Registry. "PEN has always been concerned with the freedom to
write, and that implies freedom to keep watch over our own work," says the 2,800-member
group's president, Anne Hollander. "The Authors Registry is a vehicle for doing that by
enabling us to participate in the economic rewards of the new world we're entering, as
copyright law intends. Happily, more and more publishers are in league with their
writers; the Registry helps them do the right thing."
